Here are some of our favorite
optical illusions:
1) The 3-D Effect on a Flat
Screen

Stare at the center blue disk
and move your head back and forth, and your brain will tell you that the out
of focus center is on a different 3-D plane than the outer rectangle. But it
can't be, can it? --- your monitor is only 2-D

Stare at the center blue disk
and move your head back and forth, and your brain will tell you that the
ripples are on a different 3-D plane than the center sphere. But it can't
be, can it? --- your monitor is only 2-D

Another version of the first
illusion in this group.. Stare at the center circle and move your head back
and forth, and your brain will tell you that the inner circle is on a
different 3-D plane than the outer rectangle. But it can't be, can it? ---
your monitor is only 2-D
2)
The Dots that aren't there

Stare anywhere, and you will
see black round dots in the little white circles that are not really there.
Want to have fun? Stare at one place and try to "count" the black dots with
your mind.
3)
Right vs. Left Brain
Interference

OK. Five simple lines, 3 words
each line. Try to say the color each word is printed in as fast as you can,
and like it or not you'll say the printed word and not the color at least
once.
